Electric Vehicles have finally found their mainstream stride in 2023. EVs are ready to make a big leap forward in 2024. Innovation and technology have broken through every barrier to EV acceptance. The end of the road is quickly approaching for the technology-limited fossil-fueled powered dinosaurs.

Price Barrier:

In the closing month of December 2023, Elon Musk confirmed in a live YouTube interview with automotive engineering guru Sandy Munro that the so-called Tesla Model 2 is coming. “a low-cost electric vehicle that will remain in very high volume”. The $25,000 EV will be built in Texas and the car is “quite far advanced”. See video

Charge Time:

Netherlands University Engineering students have developed technology to fully charge an electric race car in under 4 minutes. 3 minutes and 56 seconds to be exact. These kids developed an innovative cooling technology at module level, where cooling plates filled with coolant were placed between the modules containing the cells from the battery. And when far-right talk radio hosts were dismissing the future generation, these kids stepped up to the plate and proved the fossil fuel lobbyists wrong.

Range:

EV Manufacturers like Nio have developed electric cars that now travel up to 1042 KM in COLD TEMPERATURES of -2° Celsius to -12° Celsius. In other words, the age-old question of range in cold weather has now been put to rest.

The average driver in North America drives a total of 37 miles or 59 km in a day. In other words, for the overwhelming majority of drivers, EV range is not an issue when you have 1042 km of range on tap.

Momentum:

Starting January 1st through November 30th of 2023 the Year-to-date USA #EV sales surpassed 1 million cars sold in the calendar year — 1st time sales exceeded the threshold in a single sales year. This means EV sales now have momentum on their side.

Meanwhile, in the Northern half of North America, 1 in 8 cars sold i Canada during Q3 of 2023 were either EVs or a plug-in hybrid. If there’s a growth slowdown in EV sales, Canadians don’t believe it, which I’m sure makes the big corporate car dealerships uncomfortable. Margins are smaller or non-existent with a traditional dealer business model; which is why many manufacturers are now selling directly to the end user.

Meanwhile, everywhere from the United Kingdom, France, Germany Norway, Sweden, China, and Iceland are all seeing a surge in EV sales year over year starting in 2022.

Manufacturing Support:

Companies like Hyundai Kia Genesis Motor Group or Volvo for example have announced an EV future with 23 new electric models by 2025.

Volvo, the Swedish iconic brand has gone so far as to say “there is no long-term future for cars with an internal combustion engine”

EV Battery Recycling:

When a battery pack has reached the end of its life, we now have EV battery recycling companies popping up all over North America. Batteries are reused now in wall-mounted EV power chargers and put back in new EV battery packs.

2024 will be the year of the EV! Will our politics be ready for the culture change that the marketplace and consumer demand are creating?
